Why is it difficult for me to motivate myself and move forward?

I don’t understand the logic of useage

There are 3 tenses in Russian and 12 in English. I don’t understand why the past sentence “Я был в Америке” (I was in America) should be translated into English in the present tense as “I have been to America”. English has a different system of tenses, which is not logical for me.

We will learn use cases for each tense, a set of situations in which it is preferable to use that particular tense. Talking about your life experience out of the context of a specific time in the past, use the Present Perfect.

I learn the rules but I can’t remember them

There are too many rules for using tenses, they aren’t within my logic. I can’t remember a non logical chain. While I am listening to the video explanation, I remember everything, but in the real speech I confuse the rules.

Watching video, as a theory without practical usage, is similar to trying to learn how to do somersaults according to written instructions. That is why you will be doing a large number of interactive exercises. Theory without practice is nothing.

I know the rules but I still make mistakes

I learned these rules at school, university and with tutors and I know them by heart, but still I keep making mistakes. Especially when I try to speak fast.

The interlocutor will wait while you formulate the sentence. It’s better to slow down first, but speak correctly. Up to 60% of the meaning of the sentence lies in the use of tense. Mistakenly using Present Continuous instead of Present Simple, you can accidentally convey the meaning that your interlocutor annoys you.
